Into The DarkBy Rachael Joffred. Music in this show was used to establish a child-like sense of lightness and play. Two excerpts showcase the style of the music in this play. The opening music played as the first scene established. The simple opening image was of the main character (a young boy) playing with his toys at bedtime. In the second selection from this show, I took the Star Wars theme song and presented it in the child-like musical vocabulary of the show. This supported the play's final image of the boy falling asleep, dreaming of Star Wars. In both instances, I was trying to create for the audience the music that the boy was hearing in his head.
